Langhorne Rod & Gun Club
Welcome to the Langhorne Rod and Gun Club!
You have found the website of one of the best clubs in Pennsylvania . Langhorne Rod and Gun holds many events throughout the year including Archery, Trap, Black Powder Muzzle Loader, Pistol, CMP / NRA Highpower Rifle, Sporting Clays, and Fishing. Our goal is to provide you with useful information about our Club that we hope makes it easier for you to take advantage of all we have to offer.
If you are new to the club, visit the "About Us" page to read some club history and our mission statement. The "Facilities" page has information about all the ranges the Club has to offer. Prospective members will find answers to most questions on the "Membership" page.
The Club is open to members from 9:00am to Sunset everyday, except for scheduled Club sanctioned events (see calendar). Some ranges are reserved for special events, so be sure to consult the Calendar! Non members can view a list of upcoming activities and events on our open to the public page.
Are you looking for a new exciting pistol shooting experience? Come out and take the Steel Challenge! We set up steel targets at various distances and heights, and time how fast you can shoot each target! These shoots are open to the public.
The steel challenge shoot consists of 3 stages. Each stage has a total of 5 steel targets 12" round or square. Four of those targets can be shot in any order, the fifth target(stop plate) must be shot last. This stop plate is always supported by a red 2x4. A shooter must have only 6 rounds of ammo each time he/her loads their gun to shoot, as you will be shooting each stage four runs. The highest score will be dropped from the other three and then averaged out for that stage. Each miss is a 5 second time added to your run, if you miss the stop plate you recieve a 30 second score for that run. The steel challenge is set up for good shooters to shoot fast and beginners to learn to shoot fast. Always SAFETY is the top priority. So c'mon out and give it a try, but don't blame me if you get hooked!!
The shoots are on the third Saturday of the month at the short range. Registration is from 8:00 to 8:30 and shooting begins at 9:00. Shooters should bring handgun; (iron sights and centerfire only), holster, 72 rounds of ammo (no magnum), eye and ear protection, (4) magazines, speed loaders or moon clips. Members pay $10, non members pay $15.
Consult the club calendar for upcoming steel challenge shoots.
Club Picnic – 8/31/2014, Noon ‘til.........
There has been a change in the members’ cost to attend our club picnic: it was $5.00 per person and free for persons under 18 years of age. With unanimous agreement between the Board of Trustees, Dave Munson our Picnic Chairman and myself, the cost has been reduced to FREE for members and their immediate families. For your non-member friends, there will still be a low $5.00 per person charge.
I am asking a personal favor: come to the picnic please? Dave, his committee, the Board and I are working to make this years’ picnic the best attended and the best picnic we have ever had at our wonderful club. The picnic is a great opportunity to meet and mingle with your fellow members that you may rarely see due to our different sporting interests. Come out for some great food, great entertainment, great activities and B.Y.O.B. on the only day of the year where libations are permitted on club grounds. If you join us, and I truly hope that you do, if you’d like, please bring a dessert for the dessert table to share with your LR&GC family? The Picnic Committee will work hard to make this a great day for all. We need YOU to join us please?
Saturday, September 13th, starting at 12 noon, we will have our 2nd Youth .22 LR Rim-fire Rifle event. The program will be focused on getting kids shooting with a parent in a fun, low-pressure and safe environment. This event is open to members & their children. We have purchased a variety of steel and reactive targets for the kids to shoot. We will also have tin cans hanging for kids to shoot. The child's parent will primarily be working with the child however there will be instructors and range safety officers present to assist if requested or needed.
Sunday, September 14 is our next 3-D Event.... 7 am to 10 am is registration....
The weather could not have been better for the 2014 Kids Fishing Derby! The Fishing committee did a great job getting the fish in the creek, and the smiling kids came out in force! We want to send a BIG thanks to everyone who helped out and made this event a success! Bill Rementer captured quite a few smiling kids and their beautiful fish with his camera. Check out Bill's photos below.
It's that time of year again! Time to stock our great little section of the Neshaminy Creek with some beautiful trout! The weather was great, and the fishing committee came out in force! Our resident shutterbug Bill Rementer managed to get some great photos (as usual).
